I Have tried to install Macrium on two different Laptops running Windows 7. On each occasion when running setup the loading bar fills OK on the first run then after about 1/3 on the second run it locks up, sometimes it goes to about 2/3 before it locks. It then comes up with a window asking if you have service rights. I've turned off my Firewall and anti virus, and any other program that was running. It get as far as putting the icon on the desktop.

The scheduled backups do not work sometimes. An attempt to start a backup manually stalls it at the "Create Backup" screen. Selecting the "Cancel" button locks up the computer. You cannot exit the program. Control/alt/delete does nothing. A soft reboot is required when this happens. I like the ease of use. When it does run, it does it very quickly. I'm backing up two separate hard drives to an external hard drive.

Reflect Free works nice, but startup problems
Hi, I have searched for a freeware disk image program. I am running Vista Ultimate (64 bit). Not all the available programs are able to run with this OS. Others have a difficult interface, to few options or are slow. Macrium Reflect matches my wishes very good. But I was disappointed, because after a first backup, to try and get used with the program, at the end (25 minutes work) it gave an write disk error. The FAQ couldn't help me, so I uninstalled the program. But I couldn't find a good alternative, so again installed Reflect, en took 2 hours to search for similar problems in the forum. At the end it worked out that my firewal/virusscanner (Kaspersky 7.0) was blocking. After put Reflect.exe and Reflectservice.exe to the trusted zone, and put the options enabled, everything worked fine!. Although I don't like it that my internet-security isn't in charge for Reflect-traffic. I should be wise to put the information about this kind of possible mistakes between progroms more on the top of your website. A repeating error message, without knowing how to solve it, is frustrating. I am working with Reflect now for several days and several backups. I like it more and more. A good function is the possibility to explore the image as was it a normal disk/partion.

Macrium Reflect Free Edition (NOT!)
I've tried for several months to download Macrium Reflect Free Edition, but try as I might the download will simply not complete. It gets part way through and stops. I've tried different platforms, different download managers, different sites, different browsers -- but always the same result. The download never finishes, and quite frankly I'm sick of it burning up my download quota!
I've finally come to the conclusion that Macrium is so paranoid that they don't actually want anyone using their free software -- a point proven because they are so rude they don't bother to respond to email request for assistance or even to attempts to tell them that something is wrong.
I've given up on Macrium as a being company I wouldn't want to deal with even if I could.
And besides there are better solutions -- I recommend Paragon Drive Backup Express 9.0 for simple no non-sense drive imaging (with restores that actual work). Or, if you're feeling adventurous and like to gamble on whether the restore will work or not then you could load up Acronis True Image. Or for something completely different why not give SelfImage a go?

Seems Good
Haven't tried all the possibilities yet but it is a very easy to use program. Given that MS backup failed inexplicably to restore files when needed, just at the time that I was evaluating Macrium Reflect, it seems to me that there was a good incentive to take up the full version ASAP, which I have done.
Good Work

A life saver, well, almost.
After trying to install Tubesucker I had to reinstall my system and all my Apps. Not with this little beauty. Click, click, whirr and back just like nothing had happened. Excellent.
